Join us at the water’s edge for an immersive sauna ritual at Kingston Beach, Sunday 3rd May (1-3 pm).
Kingston Beach is the perfect threshold to hear how different worlds meet—how we dream of safe harbour, and what we must let go of to be good. Here, Fleur Shorthouse (British Sauna Society / Story Commons) brings a traditional oral telling of The Little Mermaid.
Forget the modern myth. This is Andersen’s original tale, told like a memory, without a script. The Little Mermaid. Spider-silk soft, she watches from the water, her Grandmother’s stories plucking notes of longing from her curious heart. She learns how to love and how to become a rose-tinted cloud.
This sensory journey unfolds over four sauna sittings, weaving the story together with nature-inspired treatments:
🌿 Birch & Eucalyptus whisks to stir the air.
🌸 Wisteria & Feverfew soothing foot-rinses.
❄️ Borage, Rose & Aloe ices to cool the skin.
🌊 Seaweed-inspired treatments for deep connection.
Fleur creates these rituals for communal, embodied listening, fostering imaginative thinking through the heat. While created with adults in mind, young people are welcome to share in the magic.
